State Surface Water Discharge Permit Application

Lake Kanasatka Cyanobacteria Bloom Control Project


The State Surface Water Discharge Permit for the Lake Kanasatka Watershed Association to apply aluminum to Lake Kanasatka, Moultonborough, NH was approved by NHDES on April 12, 2024. 

 

Pursuant Env-Wq 301.06 and Env-C 205, notice is hereby given that the NHDES Water Division has received a complete application for a state surface water discharge permit to apply aluminum compounds in Lake Kanasatka, Moultonborough, NH. The permit is to control the frequency and severity of cyanobacteria blooms in the lake. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on the proposed project submitted by:

The application and draft permit are on file with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Water Division, 29 Hazen Drive, P.O. Box 95, Concord, NH 03302-0095, (603) 271-8865. An oral public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Auditorium of Moultonborough Academy, 25 Blake Road, Moultonborough, NH 03254.

In addition to the oral public comments at the hearing, NHDES encourages the public to submit written comments, via email to the following address: david.neils@des.nh.gov or by first-class mail to 29 Hazen Dr., Concord, NH 03302-0095 C/O David Neils. All comments must be received no later than April 3, 2024 in order to be considered the final decision.

This public comment period opens March 19, 2024, and closes April 3, 2024.
