Stage 3 Water Use Alert for Souhegan River Water Users

Date: August 11, 2022

Mean daily streamflow on the designated Souhegan River measured at the USGS gage 01094000 at Merrimack, NH is anticipated to have been below 17 cubic feet per second for 11 days on August 15, 2022. In accordance with the Souhegan River Water Use Plan, NHDES’ Instream Flow Program issues the following Stage 3 Water Use Alert: Impose a ban on outside water use, as described in the Emergency Plan. The alert will be rescinded when daily mean streamflow, from a natural recharge event, exceeds the applicable flow threshold for two consecutive days. Please review your Water Use Plan for further details specific to your facility.

For the Greenville Water Works, the ban on outside water use is applicable only when water supply capacity in Tobey Reservoir is low or other system infrastructure problems occur.

Follow the Instream Flow Program.
