Safer, Greener Cleaners?

Are you a craft beverage producer looking to move toward safer, greener cleaners?

In January, The New Hampshire Pollution Prevention (P2) Program was invited to collaborate with surrounding New England states with the Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) to do just that! Funded by an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant, TURI is spearheading a Green Cleaning Initiative with partnership with P2 programs in five New England States; Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

New Hampshire and surrounding New England States will be assisting craft beverage producers and facilities with implementing safer cleaning and sanitizing practices. The New Hampshire P2 Program will be working directly with NH breweries and other craft beverage producers to review facility operations and offer recommendations for safer disinfecting and cleaning products and methods.

TURI will be providing technical research and testing services to ensure recommendations meet the stringent performance standards craft beverage producers must follow, as well as looking at ways to minimize safety risks, improving environmental performance, and reduce operational costs. TURI organized two training sessions, one virtual and one in person, where P2 programs were able to review technical protocols, learn different sampling techniques, and participated in hands-on practice to collect samples. For any New Hampshire brewery, winery, cidery, or distillery looking to work with us to improve sustainability and worker health and safety should reach out to NHPPP@des.nh.gov and lab@turi.org for more information.
