NHWWA YP Operator Certification Award

Date: November 13, 2023

One of the early challenges facing new operators is figuring out what classes to attend to become certified. Many questions arise in this process. Is there a set list of classes that a new operator should take? How much money will it cost to become a grade operator in either the treatment or distribution field? Is there a benefit to taking a certain class offered before a grade level test? How can an operator learn more about the industry?

To assist new operators in answering these and many other questions, the New Hampshire Water Works Association (NHWWA) Young Professionals (YP) have developed the NHWWA YP Operator Certification Award. The $2,000 award covers NHWWA-sponsored educational classes, training and industry networking events, NHWWA conferences, and includes textbooks and manuals required for classes. The award term is two years so operators can take advantage of a variety of NHWWA training opportunities as they meet academic requirements. Award recipients will also receive a free, two-year NHWWA membership. The award will be given out annually. New operators are strongly encouraged to apply. The application process is easy and can be submitted through the NHWWA YP web page. Application deadline for the next round of awards is May 31, 2024, for fall 2024 classes.
