Household Ash

Household ash includes ash from wood stoves, firepits, charcoal grills and fireplaces. Do not burn your trash in these receptacles. This includes paperboard such as cereal and cracker boxes!
Ash can be used, in moderation, to help suppress odor from your compost but could cause issues if too much is added. Check with your local transfer station about how to dispose of household ash.
