Fish consumption health advisories in translation

Date: November 01, 2023

As part of NHDES’ efforts to provide important public health information to all residents, we recently added multiple translations of our Fish Consumption Guidelines fact sheet and brochure on our website.

The documents, which explain the potential health risks in consuming fish and shellfish with elevated levels of contaminants like mercury, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and more, are now available in Portuguese, French, Spanish, Nepali and Chinese. The fact sheet helps recreational fishers and shellfish harvesters reduce their risks by providing statewide and waterbody-specific fish consumption advisories that provide recommendations for safer portions of certain species.

Links to the fact sheet and brochure in each of these languages can be found on the Fish Consumption webpage of the NHDES website.
