Fluorescent Lighting Contains Mercury

Date: August 19, 2020

Fluorescent bulbs are an energy-saving alternative to incandescent lights, but did you know that all fluorescent lighting including lamps, bulbs, tubes and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) contain mercury and may not be thrown in the landfill? Fluorescent lighting must be disposed of at participating drop-off locations, such as town recycling centers, local or regional household hazardous waste collection days, and Home Depot/Lowe's.
