Current Instream Flow Conditions

Current Instream Flow Conditions display the daily average stream flow compared with protected instream flow criteria. These criteria are a combination of factors including time of year, flow magnitude, and frequency and duration of flows. The Instream Flow Conditions are presented graphically showing recent and historical conditions, and also tabulated to present the current and projected likelihood for management of low flows.

The Lamprey and Souhegan rivers were the first Designated Rivers in the state to which instream flow protections were established. In 2016, new legislation was adopted that instructed the Instream Flow Protection Program to develop new rules to apply instream flow protections to all Designated Rivers of the state. Current Instream Flow Condition information will be posted for each respective Designated River or Designated River reach as studies are completed.
