Health Risk Assessment
The Health Risk Assessment Program works to assess the health impacts of toxic substances released into the environment. At the request of other NHDES programs and other New Hampshire state agencies, staff prepare technical assessments to evaluate the public health risk associated with exposure to toxic chemicals. This information is used for risk characterization, risk communication, and to aid in regulatory decision making. Staff work in four specific program areas: preparation of public health assessments and health consultations; review of site-specific regulatory risk assessments, assessment of drinking water contaminant health impacts, and environmental health education. more …
