NH Green Slopes Program

The magnitude and diversity of services and operations at ski areas create a multifaceted environmental impact that includes chemical use, energy consumption and related air pollution, and solid and hazardous waste generation. In 2006, the New Hampshire Pollution Prevention Program (NHPPP) started an environmental outreach initiative, entitled NH Green Slopes, to assist NH Ski Areas with pollution prevention strategies. NHPPP conducted site visits, provided baseline assessments to help ski areas remain compliant with environmental rules and offered suggestions for waste reduction strategies. NHPPP also partnered with Ski New Hampshire, and other state agencies to offer workshops and create outreach material. Although the project ended in 2011, NHPPP continues to offer pollution prevention suggestions and non-enforcement compliance assistance to all of the ski areas throughout the state upon request. Below you will find some of the outreach materials and information created during the project.
