NH Drought Management Team (DMT) Meeting Thursday, November 5, 2020

Concord, NH – In response to continued concerns regarding the current drought, the Hampshire Drought Management Team (DMT) will meet on Thursday, November 5. Despite recent precipitation, more than 99% of the state is designated as experiencing drought and significant portions of the state are in severe or extreme drought, including parts of Strafford County, Belknap County, Hillsborough County, Merrimack County and Rockingham County. Although some relief in certain areas is occurring, continued low groundwater and rapidly fluctuating surface waters underscore the importance of continued water conservation both outdoors and indoors. The New Hampshire Drought Management Team will meet via video conference. The media are welcome to attend, but must RSVP before the meeting to ensure connectivity. At the meeting, an overview of drought conditions and impacts in the state will be discussed, an overview and status of the new Emergency Drought Assistance Initiative will be provided, as well as a review of lessons learned to date with key representatives across State Government, academia, industry and other organizations.
