Southern NH Regional Water Interconnection Project Critical Infrastructure Tour

Concord, N.H. – The New Hampshire Drinking Water and Groundwater Advisory Commission and the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services invite the media to attend a Southern NH Regional Water Interconnection Project Critical Infrastructure Tour to recognize the completion of the Rail Trail Pressure Reducing Valve Station in Windham and to celebrate start-up of water service from the project in the Town of Salem and the Hampstead Area Water Company Inc.'s (HAWC's) services in the Towns of Atkinson and Hampstead.

The Town of Salem and HAWC completed design and construction of the infrastructure necessary to deliver water on-schedule from the Derry-Windham town line to the Towns of Salem and Atkinson this summer with crews working non-stop throughout the winter. For Salem, the Rail Trail Pressure Reducing Valve Station is the southern bookend to a metering station at the Derry and Windham town line and 17,000 linear feet of newly constructed transmission main along Rockingham Road in Windham. HAWC has completed construction of a 1-million-gallon water storage tank in Atkinson, the Westside Drive Pump Station in Salem, and conversion of their disinfection systems in Atkinson. These projects received funding from both the MtBE Settlement Funds and the New Hampshire Drinking Water and Groundwater Trust Fund.

Project specifics and brief remarks will be provided by the following speakers: Governor Chris Sununu, and Senator Chuck Morse (R-Salem), Chairman of the NH Drinking Water and Groundwater Advisory Commission, and representatives from the Town of Salem and the Hampstead Area Water Company, Inc.

Event Details:
Wednesday, September 2, 2020, 2:00 p.m.
367 North Broadway, Salem, NH (parking within the rail trail parking lot)
