Update on Wetlands Rule Process
Wetland Rules Workgroup Sessions Planned
Public Comments Received During Draft Review Posted Online and Currently Under Review

Concord, NH –The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services is continuing work to revise the New Hampshire Wetland rules with workgroup and stakeholder meetings and a review of comments received by NHDES on the initial draft rules. NHDES released a draft revision of the New Hampshire wetland rules, the first complete rewrite of the rules since 1991, on January 31.

Since that release, NHDES has hosted 5 public input sessions throughout the state, and requested public comment on the draft rules by April 20, 2018, to guide the redrafting of the rules. The public comments and suggestions received during the comment period and input sessions are currently under review. The written comments are available at

NHDES used the input sessions to identify areas in the drafts that require further clarification. NHDES is re-convening the Wetland Rules Workgroup as well as holding additional stakeholder meetings to better understand and address the comments and suggestions. The intention is to complete the Focus Input Sessions and comment reviews with the Wetland Rules Workgroup to generate a second draft of the rules for comment this fall.

Updates on the rules will be posted here:

A schedule of Wetland Rules Workgroup and additional stakeholder meetings are posted here: Adobe Acrobat Reader Symbol. Please note that the schedule is subject to change, so please refer to the list frequently.
