New Hampshire Sustainable Craft Beverage Program Gets a Logo!

Date: March 29, 2021

In December of 2020, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services’ Pollution Prevention Program (NHPPP) was awarded a two-year grant from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide pollution prevention technical assistance to the New Hampshire craft beverage industry including wine, spirit distillers, brewers, mead, cider and hard seltzer producers. The Sustainable Craft Beverage Program focuses on reducing the strength and volume of wastewater discharges/pollutants, implementing energy efficiency, conserving water, reducing waste and sharing best management practices.

NHPPP with its partners the New Hampshire Brewers Association, New Hampshire electric and gas utilities, University of New Hampshire Brewing Program and the New Hampshire Craft Spirits Organization will promote sustainable manufacturing practices and training to this growing sector.

Next steps for the program include a 3-part Sustainable Solutions for Craft Beverage Producers webinar series with EPA and the development of a statewide recognition program to highlight producers who take sustainability to another level.
