New Hampshire's Clean Vessel Act Program

    The NH Mobile Pumpout Boat

In 2000, DES purchased a mobile pumpout boat to service the coastal region. This 21' boat contains a 300-gallon capacity holding tank, which will be used to remove boat sewage from large transient or moored vessels that are unable to make use of docked pumpout facilities.

The coastal pumpout boat program was successful in its 2002 debut. DES contracted with Portsmouth Harbor Towing to operate and maintain the boat. Over 3000 gallons of boat sewage were removed in the first year.

During the 2003 boating season, approximately 8500 gallons of untreated sewage were kept from entering the state's sensitive coastal waters. Again, Portsmouth Harbor Towing served the boating public through its commitment to the mobile pumpout boat program.

Availability of the Pumpout Boat
The boat is regularly available May through October. Please call Portsmouth Harbor Towing to schedule a pumpout.
