What To Do If You Think You've Spotted An Exotic Aquatic Plant
- Note the location of the plant in the waterbody (find reference points on shore or a nearby island)
- Collect a representative specimen of the plant you think is the exotic (a piece of the stem with leaves is necessary, as well as any flowers or fruits if they are present)
- Wrap the collected specimen in a wet paper towel, place it in a sealable plastic bag, and mail to the Exotic Species Coordinator at:

Be sure to include your name and phone number, as well as the name of the waterbody and the town in which it is located.
- We will identify the plant and notify you of its identification. We will then take any appropriate management strategies if it is an exotic plant.
- BE SURE TO MAIL YOUR PLANT EARLY IN THE WEEK SO THAT IT DOES NOT OVER-WEEKEND BEFORE IT IS IDENTIFIED.

- Take a digital image of the plant that you've collected. Be sure to use a representative specimen of the plant, with fruit or flowers, if available.
- Download this image as a .jpg, .bmp, or .tif image and e-mail it as an attachment to Amy Smagula at asmagula@des.state.nh.us for identification. Be sure to include a message with your name, phone number, and lake name in the e-mail.
