Volunteers Needed for I-93 Focus Group
Concord, NH - The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, in partnership with Plymouth State University’s Center for the Environment and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, is looking for year-round residents of New Hampshire to participate in a 2-hour focus group discussing the application of road salt along the I-93 Corridor in southern New Hampshire. The purpose of the focus group is to gather information about driver’s expectations for road conditions during winter weather, and their feelings regarding roadside water quality. The focus group research is part of a larger study of road salt in several watersheds along the I-93 corridor in southern New Hampshire. Streams in four watersheds, including parts of Salem, Windham, Derry, Londonderry, Auburn, and Chester do not meet water quality standards for chlorides in particular segments during various times of the year. The largest source of chlorides in these watersheds is presumed to be road salt. Each focus group participant will earn $50.00 from the Plymouth State University, Center for the Environment. Four focus groups will be held in:
