Allow for a simple permitting process with rapid turnaround time for certain projects which will not adversely impact public waters provided they are completed in accordance with standard conditions.
- Construction, excavation, and filing, or other activity that impacts less than 1,500 square feet and adds no more than 900 square feet of impervious area, within a protected shoreland area.
- Construction, excavation, and filling, directly related to stormwater management improvements and erosion control projects or environmental restoration or enhancement projects.
- Maintenance, repairs, and improvements of public utilities, public roads, and public access facilities.
- Any similar activities defined as qualified for a permit by notification by rules of the Env-Wq 1406.05.
$100 base fee plus $0.10 per square foot of temporary or permanent impact.
Fees are capped at $100 for stormwater improvement or environmental restoration projects.
Fees for all other projects are capped at $250.
Five business days.
Permit by Notification valid for 5 years. Currently not renewable.
None allowed. New filing required.
There are no provisions for appeal of a Shoreland Permit by Notification.
Please make sure your Permit by Notification package contains all the necessary items for processing. Notifications will only be accepted by DES if they are both complete and meet the qualifying project criteria. Notifications that are incomplete and/or do not meet the qualifying project criteria will be rejected. Application fees submitted with rejected notifications will not be refunded.
