DES to Host Public Information Meeting on the New Southeast Watershed Alliance

Concord, NH - The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services will host a public information meeting for communities and other interested parties to learn about the Southeast Watershed Alliance (SWA), which was established by RSA 485-E in the 2009 legislative session. As New Hampshire’s coastal water resources face increasing pressures associated with population growth and development, the SWA sets up an organizational framework for communities to learn about and address water quality issues. All 42 coastal watershed communities are eligible to join the SWA.

This meeting will describe the purpose of SWA, the potential scope of its activities and methods for joining. The next step will be for communities to join the SWA with a vote of the governing body and appointment of a representative.

What: Southeast Watershed Alliance Public Information Meeting
When: Tuesday September 29, 2009; 6:30 p.m.
Where: Nottingham Town Hall gym, Nottingham, N.H.; 139 Stage Road (Rt. 152)
