Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

EPA Region 1 Home Page - United States Environmental Protection Agency - Region 1 serves Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
EPA Region 1 Brownfields Page - Under this program, EPA-New England is conducting "Targeted Site Assessments" at Brownfields sites in New England. A Brownfields site is a vacant or under utilized industrial or commercial facility where redevelopment is complicated by actual or perceived contamination.
EPA Headquarters (Washington, D.C.) Brownfields Page  - This program encourages economic development and cooperation to prevent, assess, safely clean up, and sustainably reuse brownfields. 
EPA Brownfields Laws & Regulations - This link contains brownfields related laws and regulations that can be downloaded.
EPA Clu-in (Hazardous Waste Clean-up Information) - This site provides information about innovative treatment technology to the hazardous waste remediation community.  It describes programs, organizations, publications, and other tools for federal and state personnel, consulting engineers, technology developers and vendors, remediation contractors, researchers, community groups, and individual citizens.
EPA Node of the National Geospatial Data Clearinghouse (NSDI) - This node provides a pathway to find information about geospatial data available from the EPA. Geospatial data is used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to identify the geographic location and characteristics of natural or man-made features and boundaries on the earth. 
EPA Maps on Demand - These World Wide Web (WWW)-based mapping applications generate maps that display environmental information for the entire United States.

 
Brownfields Program
NEDDS - Economic Development Data System - The New Hampshire Division of Economic Development and its Office of Business and Industrial Development (OBID) work to expand the economy of the State and the opportunities for its citizens by assisting existing New Hampshire industry and promoting New Hampshire as an excellent place in which to do business.
The Brownfields Center (TBC) - The Brownfields Center (TBC) was founded on the recognized need to integrate multiple disciplines to realize potential benefits
from revitalizing idle industrial sites. TBC brings together a variety of researchers from Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh to study relationships among Brownfield development, urban infrastructure renewal, economic development and the quality of life, in order to support the process of returning idle industrial sites to productive uses. It is the mission of TBC to become a catalyst for the development of Brownfield sites by facilitating the removal of barriers to market entry for potentially interested parties.
Institute for Responsible Management - The Institute for Responsible Management is chartered to "achieve effective collaboration and cooperation between the public
and private sectors on public policy issues relating, but not limited, to environmental, public safety and health concerns."

Office of State Planning
New Hampshire Office of State Planning - The Office of State Planning (OSP) is a part of the Executive Department within the Office of the Governor.  A few of the OSP's requirements are to plan for the orderly development of the state and the wise management of the state's resources, encourage and assist planning, growth management, and development activities of cities and towns and groups of cities and towns, and administer federal and State grant-in-aid programs assigned to the Office by statute or executive order.
Community Development Block Grant Program - This web site provides information on housing, homelessness, community development and the planning processes, and provides forums for information exchange on these topics. 
United States Department of Housing and Urban Development - The mission of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is 'to help people create communities of opportunity.'

Water Pollution & Waste Disposal 485-A:1 - The purpose of this chapter is to protect water supplies, to prevent pollution in the surface and groundwaters of the state and to prevent nuisances and potential health hazards.
Water Discharge Permits 485-A:13 - "It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to discharge or dispose of any sewage or waste to the surface water or groundwater of the state without first obtaining a written permit from the department of environmental services...."
Drinking Water Rules 485-:3,X -  "The commissioner shall adopt under RSA 541-A, following public hearing, drinking water rules and primary drinking water standards which are necessary to protect the public health and which shall apply to all public water systems..."
Groundwater Protection Act  485-C:6 - "The commissioner shall establish and adopt ambient groundwater quality standards for regulated contaminants which adversely affect human health or the environment..."
Groundwater Protection Act 485-C:13 - The purpose of a groundwaterrelease detection permit shall be to monitor groundwater for early detection of any impact to groundwater quality. 
Groundwater Permit Fee 485-A:13-a - "Any person, except for state, and local governments, including counties, and political subdivisions, issued a groundwater permitunder RSA 485-A:13, I(a) shall pay to the department a fee of $1,000 for the 5-year permit...."
