Firms Offering Operational Services For Small Water Systems
This document lists those New Hampshire firms or individuals offering buyout or contractual services in operating very small public water systems. Typically these firms provide a predetermined level of service for a predetermined fee per month or year. DES supports this private sector initiative, which provides a high level of operator expertise at limited cost.
All parties listed are required to be certified in accordance with DES's operator certification program. The listing of an operator does not imply DES recommendation, but only that the party listed was certified and desired to be listed. The list is organized in alphabetical order by operator.
DES recommends that owners of small water systems consider the benefits and simplicity of hiring a professional certified operator. As part of this consideration, it is suggested that a few of these firms be contacted to discuss different levels of service and cost.
Possible duties of a contract operator include:
- Take (all) water quality samples.
- Analyze and prepare for the impact of future SDWA rules.
- Read and record data from meters and charts.
- Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical devices.
- Adjust treatment processes and restock chemicals.
- Annually update permanent records of buried system components.
- Repair defects and improve basic system facilities.
- Analyze system operation for efficiency.
- Perform functions: such as leak detection and flushing.
