Workshop Agenda (Speakers, Session Details)
Description: This year’s workshop promises to be another outstanding event including session topics that cover recent legislative changes affecting water supplies, progress on a state “smart growth” initiative results from applied research and “real world” local source protection projects and hands on GIS training. Workshop information will help guide a source water protection effort to the best approaches to effective actionable strategies and practices. Members of community boards (planning, etc.), conservation commissions, regional agencies, non-profit organizations and consultants should attend. Topics may include:
- Discussion of new policy, legislative or regulatory changes affecting water supplies
- New smart growth projects and initiatives
- Research concerning impervious areas and water quality within sub-watersheds
- Local land use planning or geo-technical case studies
- Community forests and their role in water supply protection
- Lessons learned from a state-wide study of MTBE contamination in public water supplies
- Hands-on GIS training from UNH Cooperative Extension (limited seating)
Workshop Registration: This year the American Ground Water Trust will be handling registration and payment (credit card or checks) for the workshop. Registration may be done online, or by fax, mail, or telephone. Visit the American Ground Water Trust website for program and registration details. A $20 registration fee will be required in advance of the workshop date (to avoid registration delays). The workshop fee will include all materials, lunch and refreshments. Exhibit opportunities are available.
