  Volunteer Lake Assessment Program

Lakes and Ponds Participating in VLAP

In the mid-1980s, there was great interest among lake associations to become personally involved in protecting their waterbodies.  Within five years of the inception of the Volunteer Lake Assessment Program, there were over 50 lakes being tested.  Presently, after 18 years, there are 153 lakes participating in the program with one to three new lakes added each year.  Approximately 500 volunteer lake  monitors are located throughout the state.
