Event Description: “Greening Our Hymns, Liturgies & Sermons” with Dr. John Hart, professor, Boston University School of Theology. Dr. Hart is the author of “Sacramental Commons: Christian Ecological Ethics.”

Event Description: Displays and demonstrations by environmental groups and recycling vendors, tours of landfill, kids activities, refreshments, and entertainment by "The Technocrats" from Nashua High, and free "Nashua Recycles" t-shirts & pencils (while supplies last).

April 19 Manchester 4th Annual Earth Day Celebration

Event Location: Veterans Park, Elm St., Manchester, NH
Event Sponsor: Student Conservation Assoc.
Event Description: Day begins with Adopt-A-Block service project throughout Manchester. Then noon to 3pm enjoy speakers, music, kids' activities, information, and more in Veterans Park. Guest speaker Jan Pendelbury from the Pew Environmental Group will be speaking on sustainable energy and environmental health. April 19 Earth Day Recycle Tuftonboro Town-wide Yard Sale Event

Event Description: Town-wide yard sale to promote recycling and environmental awareness. Commission will have a map of all yard sales in town; a community site will be at the Town Offices on Middle Road (Route 109A), Tuftonboro.

Event Description: In the morning join the cleanup at South Mill Pond, Portsmouth. Or, join the 5th Annual Cleanup at Peirce Island in the afternoon; meet near the parking lot just past the Portsmouth City Pool. Individuals, families, large and small groups all welcome. Cleanups will be held rain or shine. Many activities planned for Peirce Island event.

Event Description: Indoor/outdoor event with films such as "the Life Cycle of a Sneaker," educational exhibits and an educational scavenger hunt; recycling of cell phone, ink cartridges, DVDs, eyeglasses, clothing, books; vendors providing green services/products; yard sale; farmers market; food; music. Everything will be reusable, recyclable or compostable. Let's make it a zero waste event!

Event Description: This Earth Day, learn how to help solve the #1 water quality problem in the Great Bay Watershed! On April 22, the Great Bay Nat'l Estuarine Reserach Reserve's Coastal Training Program is hosting a group of developers, engineers and landscapers to participate in the the UNH Stormwater Center workshop. Tour the research facility where UNH studies the performance of stormwater management systems. Staff will explain the state-of-the-art center and will up-date participants on performance data of stormwater systems. Meet researchers/engineers who study these devices; network with peers about stormwater management. Call or email for more information.

April 26 Earth Day Vernal Pool Field Trip

Event Location: Nottingham, NH
Event Sponsor: Bear-Paw Regional Greenways
Event Description: Mark West, Bear-Paw board member and biologist, will lead folks on an exploration of vernal pools on a property permanently protected by a conservation easement. Learn about these ephemeral pools that offer critical breeding and foraging habitat to many of N.H.'s frogs, salamanders and other species. Also learn to identify aquatic insects and amphibian egg masses. Kids are welcome! Program is free and open to the public. Please pre-register.
