Maintains and conducts an on-going biological inventory of rare and sensitive plant and animal species and natural communities in New Hampshire. Promotes the conservation and use of the state's natural resources. The Office of Energy and Planning assists in planning and development throughout the state of New Hampshire. Part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Estuary Program, a joint local/state/federal program established under the Federal Clean water Act with the goal of promoting the protection and enhancement of nationally significant estuarine resources. Aims to safeguard the environmental quality of New Hampshire's estuaries by focusing on the identification, abatement and prevention of non-point pollution in the watersheds of New Hampshire's estuaries. Designing water quality improvement strategies that utilize the state's shellfish resources as an indicator of water quality and as a measure of overall estuarine health.
